During the first masterclass, you will be guided to compare six (6) different top expressions of Tuscany’s native grape varietal, Sangiovese from three renowned family estates: Tenuta di CastelGiocondo, Castello di Nipozzano and Luce della Vite, and learn about the specific characteristics of the regional designations from Tuscany.
In the second masterclass, we will explore one of the region’s most famous brands: Super Tuscans. How the producers manage the balance of power and elegance working with the Tuscan terroir and the harmonious marriage of Sangiovese with international varietals? We will demonstrate with five (5) examples from the estates of Tenuta di Castiglioni, Tenuta di CastelGiocondo and Luce della Vite, and specially for this occasion, all served from magnums.
Following the masterclass, we invite you to an aperitivo before a special Frescobaldi “Cru” dinner at Giando, a venue of minimalist elegance serving refined Italian cuisine focusing on high quality ingredients. You will taste six (6) examples of Frescobaldi’s finest wines, specially selected for the occasion, including Ripe al Convento DOCG di CastelGiocondo Brunello di Montalcino 2007, a top single vineyard from a 5-star harvest.
Frescobaldi Toscana & Luce
Frescobaldi’s story began 700 years ago in the territory of Castiglioni, in northern central Tuscany. Tenuta di Castiglioni is nestled in the gentle Florentine hills of Val di Pesa. From Montalcino to Chianti Rufina, from Poino to the Florence Hills, to the coasts of Tuscany’s Maremma, the Frescobaldi wines offer you unforgettable experiences from 6 unique places and 6 enchanting stories.
The Luce estate was founded in 1995 through a collaboration of the Frescobaldi and Robert Mondavi families. Luce is a unique expression of Tuscany, with grapes from vineyards with some of the best growing conditions in this wine region – the first wine produced in Montalcino by blending the roundness and suppleness of Merlot with the structure and elegance of Sangiovese.
