French trade fair simplifies name to Wine Paris

It will probably benefit journalists more than exhibitors, but Vinexposium has announced that it will simplify the name of its France-based fair to Wine Paris, four years after Comexposium and Vinexpo joined forces.

Since the two trade fair organisers agreed to work together for a Paris-based wines and spirits exhibition in 2019, before merging to create Vinexposium the following year, the group’s flagship drinks event in the French capital has carried the name of both its constituent shows.

This has meant that the annual fair, which has grown significantly since Vinexposium was formed, has been called Wine Paris & Vinexpo Paris, with the new group failing to decide whether to call it one of the two options.

However, it has been revealed today that Vinexpo will be dropped from the name of the event, meaning that from now on, the show will be called Wine Paris.

While undoubtedly simpler, it does see the powerful international trade fair brand that is Vinexpo removed from the title – although it is still used in fairs elsewhere, such as Vinexpo Asia, which was held in Hong Kong in May this year.

According to press information sent to db this morning, “Wine Paris & Vinexpo Paris is consolidating its international positioning and asserting its identity under the Wine Paris brand, marking a new stage in its history.”

Vinexposium used the announcement to reveal that next year’s exhibition will see international producers benefit from three dedicated halls including the centrally-located hall 4.

According to the fair organiser, this will become the focal point for “an extensive choice of international products”.

Meanwhile, it noted that demand from Italy “has been so strong since 2023 that it will once again take ownership of the whole of hall 6”.

As for Hall 5’s ‘spirits and craft section’ – which comprises beers, ciders and no/low drinks – this is becoming increasingly international, with more than 50 exhibitors already registered from 13 countries.

Finally, three levels of hall 7 will become home to all the French wine regions.

The 6th Wine Paris will take place from 10 to 12 February 2025 at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles.
