Brew York teams up Shed Seven to release special beers

Brew York has collaborated with York-based band Shed Seven to produce two new beers to celebrate the group’s 30th-anniversary tour.

Speaking to the drinks business, Brew York marketing manager Pete English said: “We’re thrilled about our collaboration with Shed Seven. This partnership is a perfect fit for Brew York because both our brands share a deep connection to York and a passion for celebrating local culture.”

The first beer, named Homecoming, will be available for fans to buy in limited quantities from Brew York’s taprooms and selected retailers in time for the band’s homecoming shows being held at York Museum Gardens on 19 and 20 July.

Homecoming is a 4.5% ABV hazy pale ale that has been created to capture “the spirit and energy of Shed Seven’s iconic music” and show the band’s “deep connection to the city of York”.

Shed Seven, known for hit songs ‘Chasing Rainbows’ and ‘Going for Gold’ has been a staple of the Britpop scene since the 1990s.

English told db: “Shed Seven’s music has been a staple of the Brit-pop scene, much like how our beers have become a staple for beer enthusiasts. By combining our efforts, we’re not just creating unique brews, but also bridging the gap between music lovers and beer aficionados.”

Discussing the collaboration, the band’s bass player, Tom Gladwin said: “I’m a big fan of Brew York’s beers and their beer hall on Walmgate so we’re thrilled to be working with them on this special beer. It’s a perfect way to celebrate our 30th anniversary and create something fun and collectable for our fans in our hometown. We can’t wait for everyone to taste ‘Homecoming’ and join us for the shows at York Museum Gardens.”

English added: “This kind of partnership demonstrates the power of storytelling and shared experiences, encouraging other craft brewers to think creatively about their own collaborations and connections with the community.”

Brew York is also working with the band to release another beer to launch in conjunction with the rest of the 30th anniversary tour running from November-December. Details of this beer will be announced soon.
