Margot Robbie likes a ‘beer shower’ at the end of the day

The Wolf of Wall Street actress has revealed she makes time for a beer shower to wind down at the end of a long day.

Hollywood favourite Margot Robbie, known for her role as Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad, has said her favourite way to relax is by drinking an ice cold beer in the shower.

Robbie got the idea from a staff member in the costume department of a film she worked on, who told Robbie she drinks a cold beer in a hot bath or shower to help her sleep.

“I was like, ‘That sounds perfect!’ So now when I get home from work, I have a beer shower or a beer bath if I have time,” Robbie said in an interview with Harpers Bazaar.

Robbie’s relaxation trick is not to be confused with the practice of actually showering in beer, which some beauty experts claim is a fail safe way to add extra shine to hair. In fact, actress Bella Thorne has revealed she’s a fan, posting an Instagram video of her washing her hair with beer.

“For everyone harassing, yes it’s beer,” Thorne wrote in the caption to the video.

“It naturally lightens your hair and people say it’s good for u. For my next film my hair has to be honey blonde, saving me a trip to the salon.”

Some experts disagree with the alleged benefits of washing your hair in beer, as the proteins in the malt and hops could leave your hair feeling brittle.

Beer baths are on the rise thanks to a number of rumoured health benefits. With beer hops naturally packed with antioxidants and alpha acids, sousing yourself in a mixture made from hops has been proven to have a soothing effect on muscles, as well as an anti-inflammatory effect on skin, even decreasing surface blood vessels

The beer used for bath treatments in spas is often in the early stages of fermentation when the beer has very low pH, which some say can tighten and soften hair follicles.

Brewer’s yeast, which has gone through the process of fermenting beer, is a great source of Vitamin B and is rich in protein, potassium, iron, zinc and magnesium.
