Gordon Ramsay makes first foray into Indian market

Gordon Ramsay Restaurants has teamed up with TFS to bring four restaurant concepts — Gordon Ramsay Plane Food, Street Pizza, Street Burger and Gordon Ramsay Plane Food To-Go — to airports across India.

The agreement marks the beginning of a three-year opening programme, which will see a total of six restaurant concepts unveiled across multiple Indian travel hubs by 2027. The first two are due to launch in the final quarter of 2024.

Gordon Ramsay Restaurants, founded by the TV chef in 1998, is one of the largest privately-owned restaurant groups in the UK with 34 restaurants. The group has a further 22 restaurants internationally including Shanghai, South Korea, Malaysia, France, Dubai, Singapore and now Thailand, with further international openings planned. Additionally, across the US the business currently has 32 restaurants, with a global total of 88 restaurants.

Gordon Ramsay Restaurants CEO Andy Wenlock said of the new deal: “India’s rich culinary heritage and its reputation for hospitality make it the perfect landscape for our brands.”

The group has partnered with Mumbai-based TFS, one of India’s largest food and beverage operators, to bring Ramsay’s restaurant concepts to the country. TFS manages over 380 quick service restaurants, bars, and F&B outlets spread across travel hubs in 19 cities. The company also manages and operates 27 airport lounges globally.

Varun Kapur, Executive Director of TFS, said of the partnership: “With this partnership, we are building on the food revolution in Indian airports that TFS has been passionately driving. Gordon Ramsay’s iconic brands will deliver an unprecedented fusion of flavour and finesse, further adding excitement to the Indian travellers’ journey and making their dining experience unforgettable.”
