Brisbane Airport to gain a brewery, distillery and beer garden

Green Beacon Brewing Company has partnered with Brisbane Airport to create an onsite craft brewery, distillery and beer garden for 2025.

The project, which sees the Brisbane based brewer working with Golf Central, is part of the area’s US$18 million Landers Pocket development which is set to also include a brand-new sports and entertainment precinct — where the brewery and distillery will reside — as well as an outdoor amphitheatre, padel tennis courts and golfing ranges.

The plan is for Green Beacon to run the brewery and distillery side, while Golf Central will look after the sports recreation side and double its existing range as well as add a second mini-golf course alongside multiple function and event areas.

Speaking about the project, Green Beacon Brewing Company general manager Richard Shrosbery described it as an “unbelievably exciting” step forwards for Green Beacon.

Shrosbery explained: “The new brewery and hospitality venue will ensure we get our award-winning beers into the hands of more beer lovers than ever before.”

Brisbane Airport EGM commercial Martin Ryan added: “In 2025, this will be the newest venue for Brisbane to experience, injecting jobs and vibrancy into the Skygate precinct of the airport.“

In the past year more than a dozen independent breweries in Australia have faced closure. db recently looked into how and why so many are struggling and how others are finding ways to survive.
