Woman makes ‘Ohio Champagne’ using Sodastream on TikTok
By James EvisonA TikTok user has shown how to make fizzy white wine in a viral video on the social media platform, following requests to explain her “Ohio Champagne”.
User Lindsay Secrest Marean produced the video after TikTok users wanted to know how it was made, when she posted a video stating: “One time my sister put white wine in the SodaStream because she wanted sparkling wine and I think it should be called Ohio champagne.”

The video explains in detail how to make the “Ohio Champagne” using a Sodastream machine, which is traditionally used to turn still or flavoured waters and fruit concentrates with water into a sparkling drink.
The video shows her filling the Sodastream bottle halfway with wine and then slowly pressing the button for carbonation on the machine. She recommended “not going all the way to the fill line”.
She then said: “You kind of just wait until it looks like it’s gonna explode and then you give it a break.”
But she did also add a “major disclaimer” that she wasn’t sure what she was doing and “if you don’t want to ruin your SodaStream, don’t do it.”

Additionally, she said the carbonation uses a lot of the CO2 tank, so “maybe just buy the sparkling wine”.
She said that she hadn’t expected such interest in the drink as the initial video currently has more than 4.3 million views at the time of writing.
But when finished she said: “It’s so good, honestly.”
One TikTok user called Morg said: “I had this idea to rebubble my Prosecco and the soda stream manual said it could make it explode I was so sad.”
Another called Bea said: “So I work with wine and some cheaper sparkling wines are basically produced like this. Giant soda stream!”
Another called Brian said: “As a former sommelier, I vote for calling it Cuvee Cleveland or Ohisecco.”
