Bar run by hypnotist opens offering ‘magical menu’

A new hypnosis bar, which gives out prizes to patrons who fail to fall into a trance, has opened in Tokyo.

The bar, named Fushigi no Heso, which translates as ‘Mysterious Belly Button’, allows individuals and groups to participate in hypnosis as well as palm and tarot card readings.

The venue, which according to SoraNews24, is run by the veteran hypnotist known as Endo, is located near Islam Yokocho, in Shin-Okubo and also offers electronic hookah pipes and a “magical menu”.

The local sources stated that Endo has “previously astounded patrons with his powers at the bar’s previous locations in Kitasenju and Ikebukuro” and prices for hypnosis are approximately JPY1,000 (US$6.46) per person.

Reports outlined that people between the ages of 20 and 40 are able to take part and for groups of 10 or more, if one of the participants fails to fall into a hypnotic state, “they will receive a prize”.

Attendees to the bar don’t have to opt for hypnosis upon entering the establishment due to the venue also functioning as a regular bar with a wide selection of drinks, bar snacks and meals. However, the bar’s ‘magical menu’, showcases options such as hypnosis, palm reading and tarot reading for those patrons interested in participating.

Fushigi no Heso will be open from 9.30pm until 4am on Mondays through to Saturdays, from 7pm until midnight on Sundays and from 9.30pm until 1am on public holidays.
