Where to celebrate Oktoberfest in London without a ticket

Albert’s Schloss, the Bavarian venue based in London, is bringing Oktoberfest celebrations to the capital from 21 September – 6 October. db finds out more about what to expect.

Music to the ears of beer fans comes in the form of the Trocadero-based Albert’s Schloss restaurant’s plans to serve guests Munich’s ‘big six’ with a line-up which includes: Höfbrauhaus, Löwenbräu, Augustinerbräu, Paulaner, Hacker-Pschorr and Spaten-Franziskaner. A pouring offer that makes it the only venue in all of London to serve all six of the legitimate Oktoberfest beers that are synonymous with the Bavarian festival itself.

The event, which the drinks buisness has learned, will be hosted with no tickets, no entry fee and no booking required to make sure “everyone is willkommen” is set to include a raft of activities across 16 days, ranging from keg tapping to sausage-eating.

In addition to the traditional Oktoberfest beers, the main bar will also be serving fresh, unpasteurised Pilsner Urquell from its tanks surrounding the bar. “The beer is delivered direct from the brewery in Pilsen each week and guests can also opt to ‘push for Pilsner’ using table buttons to order their beers” too without needing to leave their seats, according to the organisers.

To pair with the broad beer offer, db was told by the organisers that the site will be offering Oktoberfest classics which will range from “Bavarian Schweinshaxe pork knuckle” as well as showcasing a menu that has “a whole section dedicated to schnitzels” and “the traditional bratwurst” as well as a vegetarian “halloumi schnitzel burgers, and vegan wursts” as well.

The dates will also encompass Oktoberfest entertainment every day, as well as a special line-up on the launch day, including an oompah brass band and a whole host of Oktoberfest games.

Schloss will also be giving away 200 free pints each day throughout the entire Oktoberfest celebrations, equal to more than 3,000 free beers.

The beer hall, bar and restaurant venue, which opened its doors in early July, is located in the Trocadero on Shaftesbury Avenue and is set over two floors across 18,000 square feet and can house over 600 guests, five bars, a stage and an on-site Bavarian bakery. The new London venue is the operator’s largest home yet and promises “an alpine oasis of indulgence and pleasure”.
