Bonhams reshuffle aims to drive US expansion

Auction house Bonhams has made a series of key leadership changes as the company continues to grow its wine and spirits department in the US under the leadership of global head of wine and spirits Amayès Aouli, who is aiming to unite a team of experts across the Americas, Asia and Europe.

Moves include the appointment of Bonhams veteran Marie Keep (pictured) as head of wine and spirits for Bonhams Americas. In her new role, she will manage a coast-to-coast team of employees and will present regular sales throughout the year on the Bonhams platform.

As she continues to build upon the department’s growth in the US, Keep plans to introduce initiatives that enhance the client experience and will solidify Bonhams as a key global destination for the consigning and purchasing of fine wines and spirits.

Louis Krieger will take on the role of global business director for Bonhams wine and spirits. With a career spanning nearly two decades, Krieger has worked on both sides of the podium, serving as a buyer’s agent, broker and educator.

In his new role, he will oversee Bonhams’ global sales calendar, lead transformational projects for the business and will aim to be pivotal in reinforcing Bonhams’ network of auction houses.

Amelia Krusell also joins the team as a senior specialist for Bonhams fine wines based in New York. The company said that Krusell, previously a lead specialist at rival auction house Zachys, had worked with some of the most historic wine collections brought to auction, providing expert guidance to an international audience.

“The US is the backbone of the global wine and spirits industry and, at Bonhams, we are fortunate to have a long-lasting and deeply rooted presence, notably with the acquisitions of Butterfields and Skinner, two of the best platforms in the industry,” Aouli said. “We are also blessed to have talented and experienced wine professionals, and are excited to promote Marie and Louis, and to welcome Amelia. Jointly with all our colleagues across the globe, they will continue to provide the best services to our clients.”
