Guinness revives classic ads
Guinness is celebrating its 250th anniversary with a rerun of the Irish brand’s most popular advertisements. This month sees the return of ‘The Island’, the award-winning advertisement first aired in 1977, and ‘Anticipation’, which originally appeared on our screens in 1994.
First to arrive is ‘The Island’, more commonly known by its only line, “Tá siad ag Teacht”, which was voted Ireland’s advertisement of the century.
Next week sees the return of ‘Anticipation’, famous for its scene of actor Joe McKinney dancing around his pint while it settles, accompanied by an inspired soundtrack from the Perez Prado Orchestra.
Grainne Wafer, senior marketing manager for Guinness, commented “The reaction to our Classic ads campaign has been absolutely brilliant. We know that many people have been waiting for these ads in particular”.
