Gaucho launches own-label wines

British-based Argentine restaurant specialist Gaucho has released its own-label range of wines to feature on its restaurants’ exclusively Argentine list. The wines have been chosen by Gaucho’s director of wines, Phil Crozier.

The Terruño (Spanish for terroir) range has been created "to represent all the major grape varieties in Argentina and from the terroir" in which they are best suited. The wines are available exclusively in Gaucho restaurants in three sizes: glass (125ml), carafe (500ml) or bottle. The wines will also be available to buy in Gaucho’s wine boutique in central London, Cavas de Gaucho.
 
The range includes two whites, a Torrontés and Viognier, while the reds include single varietal wines made from Bonarda, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Tempranillo. The own-label Gaucho red blends include a Merlot/Malbec and a Cabernet Sauvignon/Malbec.

Crozier said: “In developing the Terruño range, it has been vital to ensure that we highlight the diversity of flavours, this is why we include the height at which all the grapes have been grown on our wine menu. We also believe that the use of oak should be kept to a minimum, allowing guests to appreciate the true magic that warm days, cool nights and an abundance of sunshine at altitude can bring to these grape varieties.”
