New board member for KWV
KWV has announced the appointment of Mercia Isaacs to its board. The election of its first black female board member marks a key moment in the 90 year history of one of South Africa’s largest wine and brandy producers.
Isaacs was nominated by Phetogo, the black consortium with a 25.1% stake in the company, and for whom she acts as a non-executive Director. Her current posts include chair of ABSA Bank and Cape Town’s GF Jooste Hospital, with previous experience as deputy chair for the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board.
Danie de Wet, chairman of KWV, welcomed Isaacs’ appointment at the company’s AGM on 20 October, highlighting the expertise and entrepreneurial approach she brings to the board.
