Tesco unveils Value wines
Tesco launches its much talked-about Value wines in the UK next week. The extension of the supermarket’s Value range to include wine, comes in the form of three Spanish wines: a red, white and rosé, all of which will retail at £2.89.
The UK’s largest supermarket states that the launch of the wines, sourced from Felix Solis Avantis, “meets customers’ changing needs in the current economic climate.”
However, as well as servicing customers’ financial prudence, Tesco is also keen to demonstrate its commitment to reduce packaging waste by 25% by 2010. To support this target, it has launched all three products in one litre tetra prisma paks.
Andrew Carpenter, Tesco wine category manager, said: “The market has changed rapidly over the past twelve months, and we have responded quickly and effectively to these conditions. Whilst our average bottle spend is still over £4, an increasing number of customers are forced to limit their spend. There has never been a more suitable time to introduce our first ever Value wine, giving Tesco customers an even greater choice of great quality wines at fantastic prices”.
