Pepsi says chill out

Britvic recently announced the launch of Pepsi Xtra Cold. The new dispense system brings draught cola into the realm of extra cold, formerly the exclusive domain of draught beer. In addition to the benefits of lower temperature, the new development is said to improve the consistency of carbonation and syrup mix as well.

Xtra Cold is being launched in UK pubs and bars, a response to a perceived need for a “more consistent and premium experience of draught cola”. The system consists of a bar-mounted four head bag in box system, with the syrup and water cooled and missed below the bar as opposed to in the glass, as is the case with current draught soft drink solutions. Britvic claims that the new system is also easier to clean and maintain than traditional systems.

The company also expects Xtra Cold to help its Pepsi Max variant in the on-trade. The new development is expected to be in 2,000 outlets by the end of the year. The launch follows on from the recent development of Pepsi RAW, the brand’s all-natural premium bottled cola.
