Diageo Bar5 set for lift off
Bar5, the new bar developed by Diageo in conjunction with World Duty Free in Heathrow Terminal 5, officially opens for business tomorrow. Designed by JHP and with a cocktail list drawn up by The Gorgeous Group, Bar5 aims to recapture the former glory and prestige of air travel in the landmark new terminal building.
This week sees the eventual opening of the hotly-anticipated new terminal building, which has been 19 years in the making. For an extensive rundown on what’s instore for passengers passing through the terminal click here and here .
BAA and WDF have aimed to push back the boundaries with every aspect of T5, and the ground-breaking Bar5 certainly looks to fulfil that objective – it is, after all, a bar located slap bang in the middle of the travel retail store. WDF managing director Mark Riches explains, “Diageo’s cocktail bar is a further example of how these brand new stores are going to look, sound and feel completely different.”
Ron Anderson, managing director for global travel & Middle East at Diageo, continues: “This cocktail bar and the extensive product offering epitomises Diageo’s vision of the future of travel retail, centred on amazing experiences for shoppers and travellers. The bar itself has been designed to such a high standard that we are confident travellers will enjoy a truly unique experience.”
