Foster’s launch Tuscan rosé
Foster’s EMEA have launched what the company claims is the first premium varietal rosé from Tuscany in the UK off-trade. Called Gabbiano, the IGT wine is made from 100% Sangiovese.
The dry rosé, available exclusively at Sainsbury’s at £5.99, is produced on the estate of Castello di Gabbiano, which was bought by Foster’s Group in 2000 as part of a plan to diversify the company’s international portfolio of wine assets.
“Rosé is currently under-represented in Italian wine in the UK, with Italian wines constituting only 4% of total rosé sales, versus Italy’s 12% share of total still wine,” said Tyler Psarras, NPD concept leader at Foster’s EMEA. “Additionally, there are very few premium varietal or regional rosés on the market from Italy.”
