Trade associations join forces
The International Wine Clubs Association (IWCA) and the UK Wine & Spirit Trade Association (WSTA) are to work together.
Under the new arrangement, effective from early September, the IWCA will move its offices from Watford to the International Wine & Spirit Centre in London, where the WSTA has its headquarters.
At the same time Barry Sutton, who currently runs the IWCA, will retire. He will be replaced by Karen Gerrard who will join the WSTA as IWCA chief executive. She will bring considerable distance-selling experience to the role. Until she started a family, Karen was marketing manager at Berry Bros & Rudd, and has since worked with them as a project manager. She will continue this role on a part time basis.
Barry Sutton, current executive secretary of the IWCA, commented: “This link between the world's leading body representing distance selling wine merchants and one of the most influential trade associations in Europe is to be welcomed. Together, the two associations bring added strength to the world distance selling industry and we look forward very much to a most effective future.”
The IWCA is a professional association of wine clubs and distance selling wine merchants. The association was founded in 1991 and now has 45 members in 18 countries over five continents. IWCA members have a combined turnover of more than €1.4 billion and sell over 15 million cases of quality wine to over five million regular customers.
