Waitrose wine buyers feature in TV ad
The five MWs who buy wine for Waitrose have embarked on a new career path, appearing in the latest television ad campaign. The supermarket must now hope that the team – including Dee Blackstock MW, pictured – haven’t been seduced by the cameras, and won’t be running off to Hollywood.
The supermarket has placed a major focus on its suppliers in recent adverts, but this is the first time that the buyers have featured on TV. The strategy aims to emphasise the high level of expertise among the Waitrose team, which employs more MWs than the other major supermarkets combined.
Wine buying manager Justin Howard-Sneyd MW says, “Waitrose wine expertise is present at every level of the supply chain, from choosing the wine in the vineyard to selling in our branches. Our customers can now see for themselves just how passionate we are about the wines we source and sell.” The 30-second commercial first aired on Monday and will run for the next month.
