Want to shout about your Cabernet Franc?

Cabernet Franc is fast winning fans across the globe. Put your wine in the spotlight with the Global Cabernet Franc Masters 2025 competition.

Cabernet Franc, having long been used to add depth and nuance to blends, is also winning over consumers as a single-varietal wine.

Barbara Drew MW recently lauded Cab Francs from the Loire in a conversation with db, while Sebastian Labbé, chief winemaker for Chile’s Viña Santa Rita is excited about the grape’s potential in Maipo Valley.

Now is the time to get your Cabernet Franc at the forefront of the conversation. The drinks business is taking final entries for the Global Cabernet Franc Masters 2025, a prestigious blind-tasting competition intended to shine a light on this grape as both the main act and supporting cast.

In January, a panel of MWs, Master Sommeliers and senior buyers will award medals to the very best wines made from the grape, judging Cabernet Franc single-varietal wines and blends, providing they contain at least 50% Cabernet Franc.

Definitive guide

The competition’s unique blind tasting format opens up the possibility of success to wines from all over the world, not only from the largest or most famous regions. Full results, including tasting notes for the best examples, will be published to tens of thousands of trade professionals, in print and online, acting as a definitive buying guide to the versatile and elegant grape.

You can check out 2024’s haul of medal winners here, where bottles from Chile, South Africa, Argentina and Kazakhstan and Turkey picked up top medals.

Exceptional examples

The best competing wines are awarded medals from Bronze through to Gold, and ultimately “Master” for exceptional examples. And the calibre of the judges, some of the best palates in the world, ensure global recognition for your win.
