Nikka whisky ceberates 90th anniversary with special release
Japan’s Nikka Whisky has marked its 90th anniversary with a world whisky release made with liquid produced in six different distilleries over nine decades.
More than 50 distinctive batches, some from as early as the 1940s, have been used in Nikka’s latest special release Nine Decades, some of which are among Nikka’s oldest reserves from its Yoichi and Miyagiko distilleries.
To mark 90 years in business the Japanese distillery has blended some of the reserves from these sites with whiskies used for the Nikka Discovery series.
The limited-release world whisky is a blend of liquids distilled at its Yoichi, Nishinomiya, Miyagikyo, Moji, Satsumatsukasa and Ben Nevis distilleries over nine decades — all of Nikka’s malt and grain distilleries.
Each of the whiskies has been laid down over a long period of time with an eye to the 90th anniversary of the brand.
Nine Decades is available through Nikka’s distributors worldwide across France, the US, Canada, Australia, Mexico, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, India and domestically in Japan.
Hong Kong-based international brand management and distribution company Metabev celebrated the launch with a Nikka Nine Decades VIP masterclass at Club Bâtard led by Emiko Kaji which was attended by 25 VIPs from the industry, media and the club.
