Schrader Cellars debuts new releases in Shanghai
Napa’s Schrader Cellars has debuted the global release of the 2022 vintages of Schrader Cellars and Double Diamond, and the 2021 vintage of To Kalon Vineyard Co in Shanghai with importer and distributor ASC Fine Wines.
October marks the second annual global release of this collection of luxury wines from world-renowned vineyards.
ASC Fine Wines and Constellation Brands-owned Schrader Cellars held a tasting and launch event in Shanghai to mark the release.
“We are thrilled to present the new vintage to our esteemed partners and customers in China with ASC. The wines have exceeded our expectations in quality and character. This release is a testament to our unwavering commitment to excellence and our passion for crafting wines that truly reflect the essence of Napa Valley,” said Jason Smith MS, VP of Constellation Brands’ Icon Portfolio.
Beginning with the 2022 vintage, Schrader Cellars has sourced 100% of its To Kalon grapes from the Robert Mondavi Winery’s To Kalon Vineyard, thanks to a partnership initiated in 2017.
The 2022 vintage includes the Heritage Clone, Monastery Block, Wappo Hill Vineyard, and To Kalon Vineyard bottlings. Its Double Diamond Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from vineyards in the Oakville AVA and across Napa Valley, including the famed To Kalon Vineyard.
The 2022 vintage posed significant challenges for winemakers and growers across Napa Valley, and as such, only small quantities of these wines were bottled. Despite a promising start, an unprecedented heatwave in early September brought vineyard temperatures up to 43.3ºC for several consecutive days, impacting the yield and quality of the grapes.
