Alien: Romulus inspired beer lands in the UK
Siren Craft Brew has created a limited edition beer made in collaboration with the movie Alien: Romulus, which hits cinemas from 16 August.
The 6% ABV red berry sour beer, named Something In The Water will be available in 440ml cans from the Berkshire brewery’s webshop, featuring poster artwork supporting the movie and with cans individually numbered as well as Siren’s venues in Finchampstead and Reading town centre, along with independent pubs, bottle shops and cinemas across the UK.
Speaking exclusively to the drinks business, Siren Craft Brew founder Darron Anley said: “We see this partnership as both a great way to introduce new customers to Siren, and great fun for our community. It’s allowed us to engage with independent cinemas, offering a unique product that supports them in driving additional revenue over the bar.”
Anley admitted Alien is his “favourite film franchise of all time” and confessed that he had even named all of his dogs after characters from the movies and noted that it was “a real honour for him “being able to work on this beer in collaboration with the latest release”.
Anley explained: “I love how Fede Alvarez has approached Alien: Romulus with a love for the franchise, respect for the canon and a hands-on, DIY process to the film making. Not only does this resonate with Siren in ethos, the bright red, acidic beer works perfectly with the themes of the film.”
The beer is described as “a zingy sour beer, brewed with cherries and red berries for delicious, refreshing fruitiness and tangy sweet and sour flavours”.
Anley also hinted that there could be more projects like this in the future for Siren and told db: “We’re always on the look-out for collaborative projects like this where we can add value to other independent businesses, and continue to build the Siren brand.”
Siren Craft Brew head of marketing Andy Nowlan added: “Siren is known for adventurous beers and collaborations, but this one is particularly special. Being trusted to celebrate an iconic franchise is amazing for a small, independent brewery like ours. We can’t wait for everyone to see these beautiful cans and enjoy a refreshing sour beer this summer.”
To support the release, Siren Craft Brew will also be hosting a screening of Alien: Romulus at its local independent cinema The Biscuit Factory in Reading at 7.30pm on 23 August. Further details on this can be found here.
