Hallgarten adds Rhone producer Domaines Paul Jaboulet Aîné
Hallgarten & Novum Wines has added Northern Rhône producer Domaines Paul Jaboulet Aîné to its portfolio.
Speaking to the drinks business about the new deal, Domaines Paul Jaboulet Aîné owner and winemaker Caroline Frey said: “We believe that our high-quality, value-driven organic wines are a great fit for the UK lifestyle. Therefore, we have decided to rethink our UK distribution strategy, and we are thrilled to begin a new collaboration with Hallgarten.”
As part of the new agreement, Hallgarten will represent Domaines Paul Jaboulet Aîné across all distribution channels and support the brand-building of its new entity, Domaine de La Chapelle Hermitage.
Frey told db: “For almost 20 years, our family has been focused on sustaining and improving the unique heritage of Paul Jaboulet Aîné with humility and passion” and explained how “in recent months, we have embarked on several exciting projects at the winery, including a new range strategy, centred on the Northern Rhône appellations, the core of Paul Jaboulet Aîné’s heritage.”
Frey revealed: “This year also marks the introduction of a new identity for our popular Côtes-du-Rhône Parallèle 45. The updated label emphasises transparency by clearly listing all grape varieties in the blend, embodying the values of quality and authenticity upheld by the maison.”
Hallgarten has alluded to the move to add Domaines Paul Jaboulet Aîné to its line-up as “part of the business’s expansion plans in 2024, as it looks to develop its premium wine offering to the trade and grow its teams in all parts of the business”.
Hallgarten Wines French wine buyer Beverly Tabbron MW pointed out how “the Rhône is a region that has long been a part of our history at Hallgarten Wines; it was the backbone of our portfolio when the company was incorporated in 1933 and Rhône specialist, Peter Hallgarten, even wrote a book on the subject in the 1970s! As we look to expand our portfolio for the future, across all areas of the winemaking world, we have focused on the Rhône and are extremely excited to welcome another prestigious producer to our range.”
Tabbron added: “From Domaines Paul Jaboulet Aîné, we are welcoming some truly iconic wines to our portfolio including Domaine de Thalabert, from the oldest vineyard in Crozes-Hermitage appellation, and the Parallèle 45 Côtes du Rhône, Blanc and Rouge, the oldest brand of Côtes-du-Rhône.”
