Olmeca Altos Tequila launches ‘Emergency HotLime’
Ahead of Cinco de Mayo, Pernod Ricard-owned Tequila brand Olmeca Altos has teamed up with American actor Busy Philipps to launch a telephone hotline where fans can chat about Margaritas with her.
Philipps, known for her roles in films such as White Chicks and He’s Just Not That Into You, as well as TV series like Dawson’s Creek and Cougar Town, described the partnership with the Tequila brand as “incredibly fun”: “Besides helping make sure people can have fresh limes to make delicious margaritas, I’ll also be surprising some winners and picking up the phone lines to chat.”
Some callers to the line, on 888-268-1261, will have the chance to speak with Philipps herself, where she can impart her views on the intricacies of Margarita making. She described the process as “easy peasy unless you realise you only have old, hard limes or no limes at all”.
As part of the campaign, select callers to the line will have the chance to wine a delivery of fresh limes from Tropical Fruit Box, alongside a ‘Margarita essentials kit’ containing the classic cantaritos cups, a citrus squeezer, and, most essential of all, a bucket hat.
The campaign, which launched yesterday (24 April), will continue throughout May.
Olmeca Altos’ partnership with Philipps is just the latest in the frenzy of celebrity endorsements of Tequila brands. Among the heavyweights in this category is Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, whose Teremana Tequila recently revealed major plans for global expansion into the UK, Germany, Australia, Colombia, and the United Arab Emirates.
