Women brew beer to aid victims of domestic abuse
Five women in Swindon got together to collaborate on a brew with Vibish Brewing in support of victims of domestic abuse.
The women made the beer as part of International Women’s Day, dubbing the brew Empowered IPA.
According to Yahoo News, the beer launched on 2 March, in collaboration with the Swindon Makers and food vendors to promote IWD and raise money for Swindon Domestic Abuse Service.

A special International Women’s Day festival was hosted in Swindon with the brewery to celebrate the town’s women and the launch of the brew.
All of the proceeds from the festival will go to the domestic abuse service Swindon Woman’s Aid.
The charity came into existence in the 1970s, with the refuge opening in August 1975. It was one of the first of its kind outside London at the time.
Over the past forty years, it has assisted many victims and survivors of domestic abuse, helping them to begin new lives free from violence and abuse.
HR manager Amy Vizor, who is one of the women behind the event, alongside Jo Weller, Josie Thomas, Michelle Sheehan and Charley Hampshire.
Invaluable
She told the news outlet about the charity: “Their work is invaluable, offering dedicated and confidential support to those who have been a victim of domestic abuse.
“Over the years they have seen the support they offer to grow and develop and if we could do anything to help and support this it would be great for the people of Swindon.
“We recognise the positive work they do, offering and supporting and putting victims first. We hope any money we raise will help them provide this incredible service.”
Special designs for the beer taps are also being created for the event.
Vizor said that Vibish was “great” in offering the group the opportunity, with the brewery hosting the IWD festival at its site in Basepoint Biseness Park last weekend.
She said: “Vibish Brewing has been great in offering us this opportunity.”
