Planeta gives its La Segreta wine line a nature-focused makeover
Planeta Winery has unveiled a new look for its La Segreta wines to amplify the brand’s ecological image and its connections with nature.
The packaged update will specifically centre around its ‘100% Sicily’ bottle which was created in collaboration with the SOStain Foundation, using its Forest Stewardship Council-certified paper.
The restyling project drew from the work of famed Sicilian naturalist Giuseppe Riggio who, on the cusp of the 18th and 19th centuries created, with the assistance of an artist, an illustrated herbarium consisting of poetic and precise depictions of local flora.
The new design for La Segreta wines was unveiled after a private visit to Palermo’s Botanical Garden, guided by its director, Professor Rosario Schicchi, followed by speeches by Professor Attilio Carapezza, president of the Sicilian Natural Science Society and Susanna Weber, co-owner of the Rovai Weber studio, who illustrated the new graphic image.
The first wines launched under Planeta’s La Segreta label, became a line of wines in 2017 with the release of its Grillo and Nero d’Avola monovarietals.
The original La Segreta wine labels formerly depicted of a local 18th-century map, however the new label designs have been described by the Italian wine company as more “contemporary and refined”.
