English estate makes flagship cuvée available for preorder
Just 50 units of Kent-based Silverhand Estate’s Kyng have been made available for preorder, and they come in special packaging designed by world-renowned architect Lord Norman Foster.
At the London launch for the wine back in October, Helena Nicklin, writer, presenter and one of The Three Drinkers, described Kyng, a 100% Pinot Noir blanc de noirs traditional method sparkling from the 2016 vintage, as already feeling like a “modern classic”, noting that its five years on the lees “gives immense creaminess, weight, texture – combined with the crunchy red fruit, it really makes it a wine to be reckoned with.”
On that particular night it was paired with beef carpaccio served with a mushroom ketchup, though it could also be a good match for game birds, or a particularly meaty fish, like turbot.
The special packaging tube designed by Foster is made from wood and stainless steel, and it is intended to be repurposed as a wine cooler that can be kept for years to come once it has served its packaging purpose. Those able to snap up one of the 50 units will also have the option of adding a personalised plaque to the tube.
The RRP for a bottle of this inaugural release of Kyng, with Foster’s packaging, is £395.
