Chef James Martin launches Crémant for Christmas

TV chef James Martin is launching a new Crémant de Limoux for Christmas to sit alongside his range of wines, which includes a Syrah, a Chardonnay Marsanne and a Rosé.

The sparkling addition to his collection is a blend of Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc and Pinot Noir, and has been aged on its lees for 15 months. According to Martin, the wine has aromas of white flowers and fresh fruits with “slightly candied citrus notes”.

Sourced from the Languedoc area in the south of France, the wine is also presented in a special bottle which includes Martin’s name and signature as well as a festively gold label.

Martin visited the vineyards and winery, selecting grapes and blends, as well as working closely with the winemaker on developing his own wines, including the new Crémant.

James Martin said of the addition to his Signature Chefs collection: “It has been a fantastic experience creating this range of wines. It’s a project that I’ve been working on for a couple of years now, and one I’d been keen to get involved with for a long time.

“To see it all come to life, and be enjoyed is incredible. I wanted to do a sparkling wine to bring something new to the range, and the Crémant de Limoux fits perfectly into the collection. I’m looking forward to you all trying it!”

Collection

The news follows Martin releasing his collection in November 2021. At the time, Martin was also heavily involved in sourcing, selecting and blending the wines, including a red Corbières and white Vin de Pays d’Oc.

The wines were originally produced as part of the Signature Chefs range, in the village of Névian near Narbonne in the heart of the Corbières region. The range, produced by Wines & Brands, is an initiative that partners 11 chefs with their own selected styles of wines to help amplify the link between wine and culinary excellence.

Martin said: “We handpicked a wine producer with the help of local partners, and after much work, we narrowed it down to just two outstanding wines which truly reflect the quality on offer in the Corbières region. I’ve always loved the food and drinks produced in that part of France and these wines are no exception.”

The wines are available in the UK exclusively via the family-owned importer Buckingham Schenk.
