Michael Bublé launches whiskey just 60 days before Christmas
Singer Michael Bublé has unveiled whiskey brand Fraser & Thompson, just in time for his honeyed tones to dominate radio airwaves in the Christmas run up.
Michael Bublé has co-founded Fraser & Thompson whiskey, a project that has been three years in the making, according to the star.
Bottled and blended by Heaven Hill Distillery in Bardstown, Kentucky, the whiskey has”sweet fig and blood orange on the nose”, with a subtle finish of “caramel, vanilla, and a hint of spice”.
Named after two converging rivers in British Columbia, where the Haven’t Met You Yet singer spent “many summers” with his grandfather, Fraser & Thompson will launch initially in the US and select international markets, including Canada
It will be brought to market “in limited quantities” by WES Brands, which includes Flecha Azul Tequila amongst its portfolio.
The whiskey is the result of a partnership with longtime friend and Master Distiller and Blender Paul Cirka, but according to a press release “dozens of beverage alcohol professionals” have been involved in the collaboration.
“Michael and I bonded over our shared passion for whisky, and wanted to create a blend that was flavourful but more light-hearted than the category at large can be known for,” says Cirka.
“We stumbled upon creating something new for the category, a blended North American Whisky.”
The final product is the result of blending Canadian whiskies with Kentucky Bourbon to produce Fraser & Thompson.
“For the last three years, we worked together to perfect a whiskey blend that is equally elegant and approachable. We can’t wait to pour you a glass,” says Bublé.
Priced at US$29.99 per bottle, the 42% ABV whiskey is the musician’s first foray into the drinks trade.
It remains to be seen whether sipping his whiskey will warm the cockles as much as Bublé’s dulcit tones this festive season.
