Pommery launches Japanese rockstar’s Champagne in the UK
By Louis ThomasChampagne Pommery has announced that this week will see the UK launch of Y by Yoshiki, its collaboration with musician and songwriter Yoshiki.
Known as the lead of rock group X Japan, which has sold more than 30 million albums and singles since being founded in 1982, Yoshiki’s team up with Pommery, officially launched in Japan on 1 September, was a smash hit, with the first lot of 10,000 bottles selling out in 24 hours. Previous entries to his Y by Yoshiki label included a Chardonnay and a Cabernet Sauvignon, both origination from California.
Now, the fine French fizz (a non-vintage Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meunier blend) will be launching in the UK, exclusively through Selfridges London and online, coinciding with Yoshiki’s performance at the Royal Albert Hall on Friday 13 October.
Speaking about the project with Pommery in general, Yoshiki said: “Creating Y by Yoshiki with Champagne Pommery has been an incredible journey. It’s an honour to combine the artistry of music with the artistry of Champagne making. I believe that this collaboration will bring joy and inspiration to people around the world.”
