Where is the world’s cheapest pint?

New research has discovered where customers can find the cheapest beer in the world — and also where is the most expensive pint.

 

The study by price comparison site finder.com looked at 166 countries across the world and broadly discovered regionality when it came to prices.

According to the data, the average global price of a pint is around £2.60, and although such prices can be found in some areas of the UK, the average is £5.90 at present across the whole country — more than double the world-wide average.

If you are looking for a cheap pint, then Africa is the place to go with Bujumbura in Burundi takes the crown for the cheapest  pint of beer in the world, costing only £0.46 on average.

The other top five cheapest cities include Maseru, Lesotho (£0.62), Tripoli in Libya (£0.69), Lome, Togo (£0.73) and Kigali in Rwanda (£0.74).

Outside of Africa the cheapest pint is in the capital of Laos, Vientiane, which will set you back just £0.79, £0.84 in Yangon, Myanmar and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

The cheapest beer in Europe can be found in Chişinău, Moldova with pints costing only £1.36 on average, followed by Prishtina, Kosovo (£1.44), Minsk, Belarus (£1.69) and Sofia, Bulgaria (£1.70).

The most expensive pints are sold in Doha, Qatar, at £10.47, which is actually a decrease of 7.9% on 2022 levels. The runners-up, and showing regionality in prices, are Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates at £9.93 a pint and Muscat in Oman’s £8.68 pints.

Within Europe, Iceland’s capital Reykjavik boasts the priciest at £7.81 and Oslo in Norway at £7.13. Prices about £6 can be found in Zürich in Switzerland (£6.54) and Helsinki in Finland (£6.33).

New York also has pints over £6 at £6.22 and London comes in just under at £5.90 on average. A pint in Sydney, Australia will cost you just over a fiver at £5.01.
