Attic Brew Co launches Brave Noise beer
Attic Brew Co, based in Birmingham, has joined the growing group of breweries around the world that have brewed a Brave Noise beer.
Brave Noise is a movement which began following what appeared to be a very simple question on former Notch brewer Brienne Allan’s Instagram account in 2021: “Have you ever experienced sexism in the beer industry?”
After the avalanche of stories of individuals speaking up that followed, Brave Noise became a way to show a brewery was committed to ‘A Safe & Discrimination Free Beer Industry’. In order to participate a brewery must have a published code of conduct and commit to it and then brew a beer and donate the proceeds to a nominated charity that helps to move the industry forwards.
The Attic Brew Co Brave Noise beer is a 5.6% ABV pale ale that has been created with a barley, wheat and oat grain bill and a medley of Mosaic, Talus, HBC586 and Sabro hops. The beer will support Women in Beer (WiB) and its 440ml can packaging sports a scannable QR code that leads to the brewery’s code of conduct.
Speaking about the launch, Attic Brew Co business development manager Catherine Webber said: “Change isn’t about one person, it may start that way but real change is effected when we come together. This issue isn’t just about people within the beer industry. Everyone can make a difference.”
Webber explained: “For our beer we’ve decided to give our donation to Women in Beer (previously Beer Without Beards) based in Edinburgh. Founded by Amelie Tassin, it’s an inclusive group that works to encourage women to drink and learn about beer. It’s grown enormously over the last few years and now organises its own festival (also called Women in Beer). They work to champion women working in the beer industry.”
Attic Brew Co’s Brave Noise beer will be launch today in Birmingham at Cherry Red’s and The Wolf; In Bristol at The Good Measure and The King’s Head; In Newcastle at The Free Trade Inn and The Cumberland Arms; In Edinburgh at the Stockbridge Tap and The Dreadnought. In Sheffield at the Hop Hideout and Heist Brew Co. Taproom; In London at The Green Goddess; in Nottingham at The Abdication Micropub; In Harrogate at The Disappearing Chin; In Finchampstead at Elusive Brewing Taproom; In Leeds at Tartarus Beers Taproom and in Worthing at Merakai Taphouse & Tasting Room.
The brewery will also be pouring the beer at its taproom in Stirchley and The Barrel Store in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter.
