The actor, now 80-years-old, paid a visit to the pub back in July 2021 while shooting Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, the fifth and final instalment in the film series that is set to be released in the UK at the end of this month.

Two years after the incident, and with the film’s premiere on the horizon, staff have revealed that Dr. Jones did indeed pay a visit to Nuthampstead, which, according to the 2011 census, has a population of 142.

According to reports, earlier in the day, Ford, a keen aviator, had made the pilgrimage to the Imperial War Museum’s Duxford Air Museum, which houses an impressive collection of military aircraft.

Continuing his aeronautical day out, he apparently opted to visit The Woodman Inn as it was a favourite haunt of US airmen stationed in the area during World War II. He reportedly enjoyed a pint of 398 bitter, a beer named in honour of the 398th Bombardment Group that flew from nearby.

The pub’s general manager George Berrett said, as reported by the BBC: “I’ve been an Indy fan my whole life and yet I honestly couldn’t believe my eyes when he walked in…We quite often get well-known people turning up at The Woodman, but serving a major Hollywood star like Harrison Ford certainly doesn’t happen every day.”

Ford isn’t the only Hollywood heavyweight to drop in for a pint at a Hertfordshire boozer – John Wick actor Keanu Reeves recently made a trip to Tring for some beer and pub grub.
