BBR releases special claret to celebrate their 325th anniversary

Berry Bros. & Rudd have launched a limited edition bottle of their best-selling Good Ordinary Claret to celebrate their 325th  anniversary, with a percentage of sales going to charity, as well as limited edition run of 325 individually boxed and numbered double magnums.

The bottle, which is available online and in its stores now, has been designed by illustrator, print maker and paper-cutting artist Rob Ryan, inspired by the merchant’s iconic St James’s shopfront.

A percentage of sales will go to British wildlife charity, Woodland Heritage.

Ryan, who has lived in SW1 for over 30 years said the arched windows of the No 3 St James’s landmark were practically the same shape as wine bottles, with the “trio of ‘bottles” referencing the 325th anniversary.

Berry Bros. & Rudd’s brand experience director Geordie Willis, said it was always exciting to launch a limited edition Good Ordinary Claret, which had become “just as collectible among our regular customers as some of our more prestigious wines.”

“For our 325th year we wanted to create a beautifully striking design that would be cherished for decades, in addition to donating a portion of sales to Woodland Heritage, the leading British charity supporting the country’s woodland for wildlife and future generations,” he said.

John Orchard, CEO at Woodland Heritage, said the contributions made from these sales would make a significant impact on the work the charity does to preserve and protect the great British countryside.

It is also launching a limited edition run of 325 individually boxed and numbered double magnums (RRP:  Priced at £95) which is being made available exclusively through a ballot.

Magnum formats will also be available to purchase through Berry Bros. & Rudd (RRP: £26.95).
