db recommends: London tasting of Bourgogne wines
A trade tasting of Bourgogne wines is due to take place in London on 26th June at the China Exchange.
The event at the Exchange’s Moonchu Hall, is called ‘Off the Bourgogne track’, will showcase three areas, including Bourgogne Aligoté, Bourgogne and the Mâcon plus geographical denomination, and Chablis and Petit Chablis.
The tasting of Bourgogne Aligoté appellation will include learning about the different approaches which go into producing wines from this area, as well as information on plot selection, ageing in oak, and the various expressions the area has to offer.
Fulfilling the objective of ‘off the track’, the tasting will also include the lesser-known appellations of the Bourgogne and Mâcon plus geographical denomination, such as the new generation of winemakers leading the way, such as Bourgogne Chitry and Mâcon-Cruzille, to create exciting wines from great quality terroirs within abudget-friendly price range.
Finally, there will be a trip to the iconic Chablis wines of the region, with a focus on the Chablis and Petit Chablis appellations, with attendees finding out about the new elements of the appellations, with an in-depth focus on its contrasting terroirs.
Additionally, there will be information on what makes each appellation unique, such as the plateaux of Petit Chablis and its Portlandian heritage, or the Kimmeridgian history of Chablis, demonstrated through its vast amount of fossils.
