Beamish International reports 73% sales growth

Edinburgh-based private client company Beamish International has announced £26 million in annual gross sales of ultra-rare whisky, an £11m year-on-year increase.

The company’s results last year saw a 34% rise in gross sales to £15m. These latest results show that the Beamish International has risen on an even steeper trajectory as it closes FY 2023, thanks in part to repeat business accounting for 50% of its sales.

While growth in the UK, US and UAE was noted, South East Asia constitutes almost two-thirds (65%) of the market.

The company also reports that the value of its sales, exclusively concerning single malt Scotch, are greater than the £24m total of spirits sales reported by some leading global auction houses, including Sotheby’s.

Founder and CEO Charles Beamish said: “It has been a remarkable journey so far, and I am incredibly proud of this trajectory. This year we have brought the world’s elite collectors to the leading Scotch whisky distilleries and I am delighted that we are at a point where our knowledge, experience and service is trusted and valued by buyers and sellers.”

“The rare whisky industry is extremely complex,” Beamish continued, “and we pride ourselves on navigating our clients through the process in forensic detail and with great care for a good outcome. We now look to the future, expanding an augmented client experience, while also looking beyond Scotland – to America and Japan – for sourcing the rarest liquids for our highly discerning clients.”

Beamish International has also announced a number of senior appointments to run the private office business model: Vladimir Zabnin as head of portfolio management, Dr. Christopher White as head of private clients, and Richard Yeomans (previously international director of The Glenmorangie Company) as non-executive director.

The company has also announced the soft launch of an app next month that will enable clients to view the content and value of their whisky collections on their mobile phones.

Last year, db spoke with Beamish about the packaging crisis that has plagued the rare whisky market.
