Bottega lines up pre-mix cocktail Lemon Spritz and taps into airlines

Bottega Spa has launched its pre-mixed cocktail Lemon Spritz into cans to broaden its global reach via airline flight drinks menus.

Speaking to the drinks business at the TFWA Asia Pacidic Exhibition & Conference this week, Valentina Dalle Mule, export area manager for airlines at Bottega said: “The focus for Bottega is our new Lemon Spritz. We are offering it in two different versions, this is actually the first time that we have launched it into a 25cl can. It is a blend of Prosecco and limoncello and a very premium product. In fact, the bubbles come directly from the Prosecco, so there is no added C02.”

Dalle Mule told db: “We are also offering it in a glass version that is 20cl” and that it will essentially be positioned “as a ready-to-drink cocktail that we will be launching everywhere in the world from now onwards”.

She revealed that the thinking behind the packaging of the RTD cocktail was down to Bottega really wanting to make strides towards being conscietious about recyclable options and explained: “We wanted to do something different that was recyclable. It is made from aluminium cans” and added: “This is part of Bottega’s sustainability plans.”

For Bottega, the launch of its Lemon Spritz will lead to more variants being released, since Dalle Mule admitted that the company was “probably going to work on other flavours next because this is having such a positive reaction” and observed that the small size is perfect for airlines due to being lightweight and easy to serve.

She added: “ I can tell you it is already performing on airlines well” and “there are plans for more flavours soon”.

Bottega was awarded three prestigeous silver medals for its fizz in The Prosecco Masters 2023, hosted by the drinks business. The company, which has wineries in Treviso, Siena and Verona, was also recently admitted as a full member of the Comitato Leonardo, which strives to promote ‘Italian quality’ around the world.

No stranger to tapping into drinks trends in a timely fashion, last year at the TFWA show in Cannes, Bottega revealed a line-up of new drinks including a non-alcholic sparkling wine and a pre-mix negroni among the novelties.
