Simply Italian Great Wines set to return this September
Simply Italian Great Wines (SIGW), a comprehensive tasting of wines from across the length and breadth of Italy, will be returning to London on 25 September.
Last year’s Simply Italian Great Wines, run in partnership with the drinks business, was a packed event held at One Great George Street. In total, some 21 companies participated, including Tuscany’s Frescobaldi and Donnafugata, from Sicily.
Furthermore, db editor-in-chief Patrick Schmitt MW presented a masterclass with the Istituto Grandi Marchi which involved the tasting of a number of DOCs and DOCGs, such as Etna Rosso, Franciacorta and Chianti Classico.
This year’s edition will also be held at One Great George Street, and promises to offer a similarly exciting offering of brands, and a new series of masterclasses, as Marina Nedic, managing director at IEM, explained: “Simply Italian Great Wines represents a unique opportunity to taste undiscovered gems as well as well known favourites from Italy. One of key features of SIGW is the focus on masterclasses, wine is an essential part of Italian culture and masterclasses provide the opportunity to delve into greater detail on the wines as well as the history of the region they come from. We are delighted to announce one of the highlights of this year’s event: the ‘Vino Nobile di Montepulciano: The History Teller’ masterclass.”
Said masterclass has been organised in partnership with Consorzio Vino Nobile di Montepulciano.
