Bottega admitted to Italy’s exclusive Comitado Leonardo
Bottega Spa, which has wineries in Treviso, Siena and Verona, has been admitted as a full member of the Comitato Leonardo, which strives to promote ‘Italian quality’ around the world.
The Bottega Company, which has both a winery and distillery arm to its business, will join a roll call of premium Italian companies belonging to the Comitato Leonardo with immediate effect.
A non-profit organisation that promotes high-quality Italian products, as well as Italian economy, culture, science and technology, Comitato Leonardo works to spread the word about the country’s prestige around the world.
Alongside the newly admitted Bottega Company, are fellow businesses that express ‘Italian excellence’ across various sectors, including luxury brands Bulgari, Ducati, Prada and Armani, and coffee producer Illycaffè.
The Bottega company, led by Sandro, Barbara and Stefano Bottega, was founded in 1977 under the name Distilleria Bottega. Based in Bibano di Godega, 50km north of Venice, it produces grappas, wines and liqueurs targeting a high and medium-high level consumer.
Among the grappas, marketed under the Alexander and Bottega brands, are a handful of single-varietal and barrique-aged fine spirits.
The Bottega wine range includes Prosecco brand Bottega Gold, together with other sparkling Italian wines. Red expressions including Amarone, Ripasso and Brunello di Montalcino are produced in the two separate cellars in Valpolicella and Montalcino.
Bottega also offers a line of fruit and cream liqueurs, including Limoncino, Gianduia and Pistacchio.
The company, which distributes its products in 155 countries, has won more than 300 international quality awards and recognitions over the years.
