While cheap doesn’t always mean cheerful, with the spectre of the £7 pint looming large over London it’s nice to know that there are still countries out there offering an incredibly reasonable pint. These are the cheapest places in the world for a pint of beer.

Finder, a UK-based comparison site, has compiled research on the cheapest places in the world for a pint of beer, as well as the most expensive.

And while we may be getting used to the ignominy of paying £7 for a pint of lager in London, the average price of a pint in the UK’s capital city currently sits at £5.99 according to Finder’s research.

On both extremes of the spectrum, the cheapest average pint on the map came in at just £0.67, while the most expensive (Doha in Qatar) costs £11.37.

Here are the cheapest places in the world for a pint of beer:

1. Tashkent, Uzbekistan £0.67

2. Freetown, Sierra Leone £0.74

3. Yangon, Myanmar £0.75

4. Antananarivo, Madagascar £0.76

5. Bogota, Colombia £0.76

In the UK, London remains the most expensive city to buy a pint, while Derby came out as the cheapest of 45 total cities analysed. The average price of a pint in Derby is £3.00, nearly half the price of London’s average and £1.15 less than the UK average as a whole – £4.12.
