Become Brad Pitt’s neighbour with this vineyard-ready property
The largest château in Provence, with scope to create a vineyard, is up for grabs near Brad Pitt’s Château Miraval wine estate.
The estate, which is going for an eye-watering €18 million (£16m), according to reports, includes a chateau that dates back to 980 which has been restored during the past 15 years also boasts a helipad and more than 5,000 sq m of living space, with 120 rooms – including 25 bedroom suites – and a 16 hectare enclosed park with big potential to create a vineyard and winery .
The property, which also features three kitchens, libraries and a guardian’s lodge as well as fountains, statues, two swimming pools and an Olympic equestrian arena has views overlooking the Sainte Victoire, the Sainte Baume and the Mont Faron.
Home Hunts estate agent Tim Swannie said: “It is not often a home of this size and historical importance comes up for sale. The area it is in is a quieter part of Provence that is off the tourist trail. This certainly adds to its appeal for many. This lesser-known area has attracted many high profile celebrities over the years such as George Clooney, Brad Pitt and George Lucas, who all own estates nearby, we also recently sold the former home of Eric Clapton which was just down the road.”
The chateau, located in La Verdiere in the Var, Provence, France, is around 45 minutes from Aix en Provence and one hour from Marseille.
