Budweiser Super Bowl advert targets younger beer drinkers
AB InBev has secured Super Bowl advertising for its Budweiser beer brand that features actor Kevin Bacon and hip hop producer Metro Boomin.
The advert, which has been reported to be targeting a younger generation of beer drinkers, will bring back the tagline “This Bud’s for you” and will air during the National Football League’s championship game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs on 12 February.
The new advertisement specifically timed for viewers enjoying the sporting event, shows six people, including a construction worker, a food truck owner and a basketball player enjoying a Budweiser beer. Each person takes a beer and passes the six-pack to the next until the final beer is handed to the viewer.
Bacon, who narrates the advert, said: “They say all people are six degrees of separation away from each other, but some are just a six-pack away.”
Budweiser USA head of marketing Kristina Punwani added: “The tagline came out in 1979 and showed a Bud was a reward after a hard day’s work. We realised the tagline was just as relevant today.”
Puwani also explained that AB inBev has said that it intends to use hip hop and music throughout the year in an effort to focus on becoming more appealing to younger consumers.
