Kim Kardashian reveals why she now drinks alcohol after years of sobriety
At a time of year when some people choose to halt their drinking as part of Dry January, American reality star Kim Kardashian has explained why she has started drinking alcohol after famously remaining sober for years.
Arguably the most famous member of one of America’s most famous families, Kim Kardashian had been publicly sober for many years.
Back in 2016, Kim’s sister Khloe told Elle that the Skims owner “does not drink alcohol whatsoever,” adding “”She’s just never been into it.”
But Kim herself has revealed that this has changed of late. Speaking to actress Gwyneth Paltrow on her Goop podcast, she said, “I started to drink a little bit at the age of 42. Coffee and alcohol.
“I feel like I just gotta let loose a little bit.”
When quizzed by Paltrow on how the change had come about, Kim added, “Cause why not, you know? I just feel like I work a lot and I focus… all day after school then it’s like product meetings and testing things and packaging meetings and everything for SKKN.
“I just don’t ever feel comfortable just laying around doing nothing. So my version of that has been to spend some time with my friends and have a drink and stay out a little bit later, when I probably wouldn’t have done that before,” she said.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, given her sister is the owner of 818 Tequila, Kim said that her drink of choice was the agave-based spirit coupled with pineapple. “I have two shots and I’m like so good. It’s been fun,” she said.
