Fourpure releases collab beer to fundraise for mental health
Bermondsey-based brewer Fourpure has collaborated with rugby player Greg Bateman’s brewery People’s Captain to launch a session IPA that assists in raising awareness of mental health issues.
Speaking to the drinks business, Fourpure owner Steve Cox said: “With so much uncertainty during the pandemic and now the cost-of-living crisis in the UK, it’s never been more important to raise awareness and vital funds to help those that are struggling with their mental health.”
People’s Captain, which was founded by Bateman after he went public with his experiences of struggling with mental health, became a way for the craft beer industry to be utilised as a positive means for getting people together to show solidarity.
The brewery, which upholds an ethos that is focused on using the social nature of beer to bring people together, uses its People’s Captain Awards to raise funds to celebrate those who have gone the extra mile for others.
The collaboration beer made with Fourpure has been named Steadfast IPA and weighs in at 4% ABV and is “filled with apricot, citrus and spicy notes”, The beer has been available on draught via the Fourpure taproom at a tap takeover and the People’s Captain Awards 2022.
Cox added: “We’ve made great strides in talking about these issues more, but there is still a great deal to do. That’s why we’re proud to be partnering with People’s Captain on something that helps progress these discussions and developments within mental health.”
All proceeds from the ticket sales and beers sold were donated to The People’s Captain Foundation to go towards supporting the foundations’ goal of raising £1m to support mental health initiatives.
