You can now spend the night in a giant wine barrel
Do you like wine? Do you like irreverent grand designs? Then why not combine your passions into one heady stay and spend the night in a giant wine barrel amongst the vines in Australia.
It’s no secret that wine tourism is enjoying a major boom right now. Google searches for wine stays in the United Kingdom have surged some 110%, while Airbnb has responded to the renewed enthusiasm for vineyard stays by adding a whole category dedicated to trips among the vines to its gargantuan platform.
But if you’re looking for something a little more unconventional from your vineyard stay, then why not pop over to Australia and spend the night in a giant wine barrel?
No, this is not a Teletubbies fever dream for adults, rather a practicable reality, thanks to the folk at Barrel View Luxury Cabins.
As the hotel pithily describes itself on its site, Barrel View Luxury Cabins offers “relaxation and tranquillity in a giant, luxuriously appointed wine barrel.”
The well appointed barrel-rooms, replete with smart technologies and robes, boast 180 degree views across the Australian countryside.
“With sweeping 180 degree views over Girraween and Sundown National Parks, Barrel View Luxury Cabins is a place like no other, in the heart of Queensland’s Wine Country, Ballandean on the beautiful Granite Belt”, a description of the rooms states.
According to the hotel’s website, the cabins start from AU$450 per night, and are set to open in October of this year.
