The wines to pair with HBO’s House of the Dragon premiere

HBO’s Game of Thrones prequel premiered on Sunday night, and the House of the Dragon wines produced by Vintage Wine Estates in collaboration with Warner Bros. are the perfect pairing.

The wines to pair with HBO's House of the Dragon premiere

House of the Dragon drew in 9.99 million viewers across HBO and HBO Max when it premiered on Sunday night, according to Warner Bros.

Vintage Wine Estates and Warner Bros. Consumer Products launched a selection of House of the Dragon wines in June this year ahead of the TV show’s premiere in August. The wines were the first merchandise released for the Game of Thrones prequel.

Based on George RR Martin’s Fire & Blood, the series, which is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones tells the story of House Targaryen.

Avid GoT fans were sure to have settled in for watch parties on Sunday night to view the premiere of the new show, starring Paddy Considine, Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke. And what better way to celebrate than with an aptly themed glass of vino?

Vinted and bottled by Seven Kingdoms Cellars, a division of Vintage Wine Estates, the offering includes an Oregon Pinot Noir, a proprietary red blend from the Lodi appellation in California, and a Cabernet Sauvignon from California, all with an RRP of US$20.

Vintage Wine Estates is not the only one to come out with a Game of Thrones-themed tipple. In fact, the list of drinks inspired by the HBO hit series is extensive.

In 2019 Diageo released the last whisky in a series of spirits inspired by the series. And in April 2021, nearly two years since Game of Thrones came to its divisive conclusion, an entirely new line of beers was released to celebrate its 10th anniversary.
