Giffard helps France’s Bastille Day to become Pastille Day
A selection of venues across England and Wales will be taken over by liqueur company Giffard in July, turning Bastille Day into Pastille Day.
The celebrations, which will take place on 14 July, will see bartenders travelling from the Paris and Marseille bar group Copperbay to The Cocktail Service, Lab22 in Cardiff and mixing drinks to showcase Menthe-Pastille at its best.
Bartenders include Aurelie Panhelleux, the first woman to officiate at the Forvm and who ranks among the 50 best bartenders in France, and ex-head barman of Papa Doble, Julien Lopez, will be getting behind the bar at Lab22 to create four specially curated cocktails.
The cocktails will include: Ahwh Bayda – made with Quebranta Pisco, Taruhi saké, jasmine-infused Giffard sugar cane, verjuice and orange blossom infusion; A Drink With Coffee – made with shiitake-infused Barcelo organic rum, Giffard Madagascar vanilla, medium roasted cold brew coffee and Giffard orgeat syrup; Blue Stinger – made with Blue Menthe Pastille, Pastis Mauresco from CopperBay, Barley Shochu and wite apple brandy; Grasshopper – made with Menthe Pastille, Giffard white cocoa, cocoa rooibos infusion and verbena.
Giffard has also teamed up with FAM Bar and restaurant in London and Hummingbird in Liverpool and will be working closely alongside each of the bar’s resident bartenders to create a ‘Menthe-Pastille Menu’ for the public to enjoy in celebration of ‘Pastille Day’.
