Light Bar team opens hidden garden bar in Shoreditch
The Backyard, a hidden terrace bar in London’s Shoreditch, is being launched by the owners of Light Bar & Dining.
The new venue is owned by Morten Jensen and Darren Collins, the duo also responsible for Bali beach club Kudeta, who reopened The Light Bar under new independent ownership last year.
The Backyard, which can be found down a short alley next to the Light Bar building, features greenery, a retractable roof, heaters and will be specialising in sustainable, bespoke bottled cocktails by Strongman’s Tipple.
The exclusive cocktails have been created with recipes by bar manager Ilija Kniasev, formerly of Annabel’s.
The summer drinks menu includes: Tulum People – Volcan De Mi Terra, honey mango, Champagne cordial, and verjus; Electric Lust – Belvedere, cranberry wine, rhubarb verjus and kumquat; Blackberry & Lemongrass – Belvedere blackberry and lemongrass infusion, Eminente Reserva, violet amaro, honeycomb and verjus.
The food menu from chef Tristan Downs will offer light snacks and sharing plates such as flat breads, cheese boards and charcuterie.
The Backyard is open for bookings from 27 April, in partnership with Belvedere and Ultimate Provence and also available for private hire for social gatherings of up to 120 people.
