This is not a dill! Byron Burger launches a pickle-flavoured beer
UK restaurant chain Byron Burger has launched a new brew with a twist – a pickle-flavoured beer – and this is not an April Fool’s prank!
Aptly named Pickle Beer, this new Saison beer base is said to combine a natural dry tart acidity with a subtle herbal fresh dill infusion.
According to a poll of 2,000 people nationwide, 51% agreed that pickles are a must have ingredient when making or eating a burger.
Upon receiving this data, Byron decided to take the pickle theme one step further, and introduce it as a tipple as well.
Half of the respondents agreed that pickles add a great texture and flavour to any dish, and a third of 18-34 year olds agree that the pickle is the perfect hangover snack.
A press release put out by the company explained: “it is scientifically proven that the sodium and potassium in pickles is why most people like this little green snack on a hangover”, suggesting that the beer should be enjoyed as a hair of the dog hangover remedy.
When asked what people crave on a hangover, 45% agree that it has to be savoury, sour, bitter and have that 5th taste, Umami.
According to Byron, “this beer’s clean crisp flavour, with a tangy finish has been perfectly matched to accompany any of the delicious beef, chicken, veggie or vegan burgers on the menu”.
While Byron has claimed not to be pulling our legs with this pickle-flavoured beer, despite releasing it on April Fool’s day, these drinks are the perfect pairing to a mischievous day like today.
